(Update) Husband Takes Own Life After Killing Wife At Cape Cod Home: DA

A murder/suicide investigation is underway in one Cape Cod community after authorities determined that a man killed his wife and then himself.

Police responded to a reported assault inside a home at 66 Murrays Way in Hyannis around 2:48 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office said.

Upon arrival, officers found Aline De Lima Ferreira De Castro, age 38, and Luiz Castro, Jr., age 44, dead inside. Initial investigation suggests Castro killed his wife with a knife and then hung himself, the office reports.

The couple's two children, ages 7 and 11, were removed from the home and placed under custody of the Department of Children and Families.

Barnstable Police said there is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
